Use text-response questions plus AI checks to assess nuanced candidate answers automatically.
1. Add a Text-Response Question
- Go to Positions → select your job → Edit Questions.
- Click Add Question and choose Text as the answer type.
- Enter your question (e.g. "What was the average account size you managed?").
2. Enable AI Evaluation
- Toggle on AI Check (ChatGPT).
- Under Prompt, describe:
• Correct answer: exact range or phrasing you expect
• Acceptable answer: wider range or equivalent phrasing - Save your prompt.
3. Define Correct vs. Acceptable
Category | Example |

4. Review and Adjust AI Ratings
- Candidates submit free-text answers.
- AI labels each as Correct, Acceptable, or Incorrect.
- On the Candidates page, click a response to:
• Override the AI rating
• Leave a Comment for teammates
• Save your changes
5. Tips
- Use clear ranges or keywords in your prompt.
- Keep prompts under 2–3 sentences.
- Review the first few AI evaluations to fine-tune your criteria.
Setting up text questions with AI checks helps you screen detailed responses at scale and focus on top candidates.
